Player Guide

Card-Jitsu

Learn the way of the ninja with fire, water and snow cards.

Where to play

Go to the Dojo. Walk onto a mat to play another penguin, or challenge Sensei.

The rules

  1. Pick a card

You and the other player each choose one card.

  2. Fire, water, snow

Fire beats snow. Snow beats water. Water beats fire.

  3. Same element?

    The higher number wins.

  4. Win the match

Win with one card of each element, or three cards of the same element. The winning cards must each be a different colour.

  5. Twenty seconds

You have 20 seconds to choose. If the time runs out, a card is played for you.

Power cards

Some cards are power cards. Their effect can change the round, or the next one: the lower number wins, your next card gets +2, an element is blocked for the other player, one of the cards they have already won is taken away, or one element turns into another for both players. Watch for them in your hand and in your opponent's.

Earning your belts

Every match you finish moves you towards the next belt: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, red, purple, brown and black. Each belt takes one more win than the one before, and losing still counts a little. Leaving a match early earns nothing.

Leaving matches

Finish the matches you start. If you leave too many Card-Jitsu matches before they end, in any of the dojos, you will have to wait a while before you can join another match. Leave again soon after, and the wait gets longer. The same rule is shown when you walk into a dojo.

Sensei and the Ninja Mask

When you are ready, you can challenge Sensei. Nobody beats him before their black belt. Once you have it, beat him to win the Ninja Mask and enter the Ninja Hideout.
