Club Rules
The island is a friendly place for everyone, and these rules keep it that way. Please read them before you play.
Respect other penguins
Be kind. No bullying, mean jokes or picking on anyone, ever.
Keep it clean
No rude words and no inappropriate talk. Please do not try to sneak words past the chat filter.
Never share personal information
Keep your real name, address, phone number, school, passwords and social media to yourself, and never ask anyone for theirs.
No cheating
Do not use hacks, bots or programs that change the game. If you find a bug, please tell us about it and do not use it on purpose.
Be yourself
Do not pretend to be a moderator, a staff member or another player.
Keep your account safe
Your password is yours alone. We will never ask you for it.
Choose a good penguin name
Pick a friendly name with no personal information in it. Our moderators check every new name.
Report problems
If someone breaks these rules, do not argue back. Open their player card and report them, and a moderator will take a look.
What happens if a rule is broken
Depending on what happened, a moderator may give you a warning, pause your chat, remove you from the game for now, or ban your penguin for a while. Serious or repeated rule breaking can mean a ban forever.
Your chat settings
You choose how chat from other penguins looks on your screen. There are three settings. A setting only changes what you see. It never changes what anyone is allowed to say, and the rules above are the same in all three.

Family-Friendly
Swear words from other penguins are covered with stars, the mild ones too. If you are under 18, this is your setting and it stays that way.

Standard
This is the setting most penguins start with. Mild words show as typed. Stronger swear words are covered with stars.

Relaxed
Stronger swearing from other players shows as it was typed. You switch it on yourself, and the game asks you to confirm first. It is not available to players under 18.
How to change your setting
Type one of these in the chat bar and press Enter:
!chat family!chat standard!chat relaxed
Type !chat on its own to see which setting you have now. You can switch back any time.
Before Relaxed is switched on, the game tells you what it shows and asks you to say yes. Relaxed needs the month and year you were born to be on your account, and it is not available to players under 18.
Typing your own messages needs a confirmed email address. Until then you can still use the ready-made messages and emotes. Once your email is confirmed, you can type in whichever setting is yours.
Chat is recorded
To keep the island safe, we save some of the chat typed in rooms, but not all of it.
- Messages our chat filter stopped or covered with stars are saved.
- When a penguin is reported, or a message is sent to a moderator to check, we save what was said in that room around that time, so the moderator can see what really happened.
- Everything else is only held for up to 24 hours, in case a report comes in, and is then deleted automatically.
Saved chat is kept for 90 days and is then deleted automatically. With each message we keep your penguin name, the server, the room, the time, and whether it was sent. Ready-made messages, emotes and actions are never saved. Only our staff team can read saved chat, and every look is noted. Messages typed by staff are always saved.
A message that breaks a chat rule is simply not sent: it turns red on your screen and nobody else sees it. The filter does not warn or ban anyone by itself. Only staff can type numbers in chat, which helps keep phone numbers and ages off the island.
