Your first five minutes
Make a penguin
When the island opens, go to the play page and choose Create a Penguin. Pick a name, a password and your favourite colour. It is free. Until then, see Coming Soon.
Log in
Type your penguin name and password on the play screen.
Pick a world
Choose a world from the list. The bars next to each world show how busy it is.
Waddle around
Click or tap where you want to go. Your penguin walks there.
Say hello
Type a message, or use the ready-made messages and emotes. See Chat and Chat Modes.
Play anywhere
You can play on a computer, a tablet or a phone, in any up-to-date browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and others. There is nothing to download.
- On a phone, tap where you want to waddle. Turn your phone sideways for a bigger view. It works upright too.
- To chat, tap the chat bar and your keyboard pops up. The game slides up so you can see what you type.
- Games played with the arrow keys get buttons on the screen, next to the game.
- Scrolling your inventory: swipe the items up or down, or tap the arrows.
- Add to Home Screen: in Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Chrome open the menu and choose Add to Home screen. OldCP then opens full screen, like an app.
- No sound? Tap the game once. Phones only play sound after you touch the screen. Check your phone is not on silent, too.

Making a new penguin is still in testing. If something goes wrong when you sign up, the Help & Support page tells you how to reach our team.
Your penguin name
Names are 4 to 12 letters or numbers. Every new name is checked before other players can see it. Until yours is approved, other players see a number name that starts with P. You still log in with the name you picked.

When you were born
When you make a penguin you are asked for the month and year you were born. Never the day. They are never shown to anyone. They help the game pick the right chat settings for you.
Worlds
There are five worlds: Blizzard, Sleet, Frozen, Marshmallow and Zipline. They are all the same island. Pick the same world as your friends so you can meet in the same rooms.
If a world is full, you wait in line and see your place. The waiting line is still in testing.

What you need
An up-to-date web browser. There is nothing to download. Phones and tablets are still being tested, so some things may not work there yet.

No. Old Club Penguin is free, and there is nothing to buy.
Why do other players see a number instead of my name?
Your name is waiting for a moderator to check it. Until then, others see a name like P12345678.
